Janice Holkup, tutor coordinator, jmholkup@seattleschools.org

Tutoring can include: Class-room assistant during math, reading, and writing, one-on-one work, small group work, recess supervision, some clerical work.

School day runs from 8:00-2:25.   Student tutors usually work 3 to 6 hours each work day, one to three days per week.  Pay rate is $15.45 per hour.

Tutors must have the ability to work positively and effectively with K-5 students and their teachers.  Tutors need to demonstrate commitment, responsibility and dependability in working with the students and teachers.

We are especially interested in hiring education majors who are also eligible for work-study funds.  Tutoring gives you the opportunity to interact with elementary students, try out your skills and knowledge and see how a school runs.  Our students get the benefits of your ongoing education course work and passion for teaching.  We do hire tutors from all college majors, not just education.

Please be as complete and accurate as possible in filling out your application.  You may attach a resume to answer some questions (say see resume).  If hired, you will need to fill out a background check form.  Finger printing is not required.
