Freshman Counseling Intern
Hours per week: 10-20 hrs/wk
Shifts: Flexible hours: employees work with the manager to set work schedules within 10 AM-8 PM Monday-Friday (option for weekends if desired). Occasional remote work can be done with prior permission from the supervisor. Applicants must have a reliable internet connection and access to a mobile phone or personal laptop/computer.
Employment Period: Year-round with option for Summer quarter
Description of Duties:
The Freshmen Counseling Interns (FCIs) is a group of 8 current Seattle Pacific University students that conduct comprehensive calling and texting outreach campaigns to prospective Seattle Pacific University students. As part of the Office of Admissions’ multi-channel communications plan, interns will contact these prospective students with the following goals: beginning to build positive relationships, assessing interest in SPU, and providing information about the college admissions process. It is important that interns make a good “first impression” of the University to everyone they reach out to.
Duties include:
- Maintaining productivity while making a high volume of outbound telephone calls
- Communicating with prospective students via text campaigns
- Promoting a positive image of SPU with a friendly and engaging attitude in both voicemails and live conversations
- Counseling high school students and their families in the SPU application process
- Logging phone call details accurately in a computer database
- Providing informal verbal reports about the quality and subject of conversations
- Working together with supervisor and teammates to share applicable knowledge and support team success
- Professional Development Trainings
- Other duties as assigned
- Attending weekly team meetings for admissions and professional development training
- Opportunities to attend admissions events (optional)
Skills/Qualifications/Experience Required:
- Passion and excitement for Seattle Pacific University, with a desire to encourage prospective students to attend SPU

- Special consideration (not required) for applications who have previous experience with customer service, multi-line phones, and/or CRM computer systems
- 1 year at Seattle Pacific
- Campus involvement (preferred)
- Must currently reside in WA state
