Store Assistant Work Study Position With Flexible Hours at $18 an hour

Position Summary:  
The Material Resource team ensures youth in foster care have access to the basic items they need to be prepared for school and life. As part of the Material Resource team, the Store Assistant supports daily operations in Treehouse’s free retail space. This is an opportunity to work directly with Treehouse staff, donors, volunteers, and clients and ensure the needs of each stakeholder are being met. Creative, detail-oriented, and personable, the Store Assistant provides outstanding customer service to shoppers, supports volunteers, and fulfills online requests for basic needs.  

Essential Functions:   
·        Assist in the fulfillment and delivery of store orders placed online. 
·        Provide excellent customer service to caregivers and young adults accessing services. 
·        Assist in responding to client inquiries via phone and email.  
·        Sort and process donated inventory  
·        Support volunteer activities including training on new tasks, answering questions throughout a volunteer shift and relationship building. 
·        Demonstrate flexibility and creativity by leveraging on hand resources and equipment. 
·        Responsible for autonomously completing daily program maintenance tasks 
·        Ensure accurate and timely data recording of client visit and inventory records 
·        Oversee shopping appointments as health guidelines allow 
·        Monitor volunteers and store environment to ensure that clients have a positive and respectful shopping experience.

 Required 
·        Demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities and to problem solve. 
·        Strong relationship building and customer service skills. 
·        Self-directed with strong sense of ownership and initiative. 
·        Ability to navigate competing priorities in a fast paced environment. 
·        Demonstrated ability to build working relationships with individuals of various ages, cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds and abilities. 
·        Ability and aptitude with Microsoft Office Suite and other technology necessary for successful day-to-day functioning in business environment.  
·        Must satisfy Washington State criminal background requirements for working with youth and vulnerable adults. 
·  Must be able to work occasional Saturdays. Typical Saturday schedule is 8:30am – 2:30pm 
 
 Desired 
·        Experience working with volunteers. 
·        Experience working in clothing retail. 
 
Physical and Mental Requirements:  
 
·        Mental Effort - attention to detail, interact with others verbally and through email, apply critical thinking skills (evaluate and apply procedures, identify cause-effect relationships, synthesize knowledge and skills, evaluate outcomes, prioritize and solve problems and tasks), active participation in meetings, long periods of client interaction, read and understand written policies, protocols and client records, direct activities of others, influence or advocate for others 
·        Emotional Effort – recognize and respect personal boundaries of self and clients, adapt to changing environment/stress, deal with unexpected emotional support needs of self and clients, handle strong emotions of youth and adults, respond effectively and appropriately to needs of individuals experiencing trauma  
·        Physical Requirements - long periods of sitting, long periods of standing, fine motor skills for extensive computer work, ability to hear normal speaking level sounds, walking to various work areas, going up and down stairs, talking on the phone, working with other office/computer equipment. Ability to lift 30 pounds (boxes and donation barrels) and load and unload donations. 

·        Working Conditions – daily time spent in typical business office environment, standard retail space, and warehouse and storage facilities. Treehouse’s Seattle office is a dog friendly work environment.
