Anatomy and Physiology Study Tables Peer Tutor
A&P Peer Tutor Position Description 2022-23
The Center for Learning is hiring peer tutors for the 2022-23 academic year. An A&P Peer Tutor will host a welcoming, inclusive study space called a “Study Table” (in person or via Zoom) and assist students individually and in small groups who drop in to ask questions, do homework, and study for exams for BIO 2129 and 2130. The tutor will work 4 hours per week during fall and winter quarters (specific times depending on tutor availability and program needs).
An A&P Peer Tutor must have completed BIO 2129 and 2130. In addition, the tutor must be able to communicate effectively and have an A&P faculty recommendation affirming a strong grasp of related academic subject matter.
Peer Tutors must exhibit:
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong grasp of anatomy & physiology course content (Bs or above in BIO 2129 and 2130)
- A commitment to equity and inclusion
- The ability to recommend academic tools and strategies to their peers
- In addition, a Peer Tutor must hold and maintain an overall GPA of 3.2 or higher and must be good standing with the university.
Compensation:
- Hourly pay rate is $17.48 per hour
- Tutors are paid for assigned tutoring hours and training sessions they attend

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis. Applicants who are chosen to move forward will be contacted via email regarding next steps and interview times.
Job Responsibilities
- Host study tables sessions and promote a welcoming, inclusive learning environment
- Engage student questions by helping students assess what they already know about class content and what they still need to learn
- Model and teach learning strategies for course content
- Use class resources and tutor knowledge to help students fill gaps in understanding
- Refer students to faculty members when their questions are beyond the scope of the tutor
- Participate in ongoing training and supervision meetings
- Be responsible for other related tasks, as assigned
- Be able to tutor during both fall quarter 2022 and winter quarter 2023
