The Center for Learning is hiring a Math (MAT) Peer Tutor for Winter and Spring 2022. For more details about the Study Tables program, go to www.spu.edu/studytables.

A MAT Study Tables Peer Tutor will host a study space (in person or via Zoom) and assist students individually and in small groups who drop in to ask questions, do homework, and study for exams for select 1000 and 2000 level math courses. The tutor will work 5-7 hours per week during each quarter (specific times depending on tutor availability and program needs).

A MAT Study Tables Peer Tutor must have completed MAT 1234-1236 and MAT 2360 (or equivalents). At least two of these classes must have been taken at SPU, and the applicant must have earned an A- in all four classes. In addition, the tutor must be able to communicate effectively, have a math faculty recommendation affirming a strong grasp of related academic subject matter, exhibit insight into effective strategies used by peer educators, and hold an overall GPA of 3.2 or higher.

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis. Applicants chosen to move forward will be emailed with a faculty reference form and interview times.
