POSITION: Wise Buddies- Community & Learning Mentor
DESCRIPTION:
The Community & Learning Mentor promotes the mission and values of the Washington Initiative for Supported Employment. He/she is responsible for providing job coaching and mentoring to youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Community Mentor works with individuals, families, support workers, Special Education programs, and state organizations to assist individuals in learning how to do specific tasks as assigned at the job site. The Community Mentor also helps with agencies' departments for IT, data management, Accounting/Finance, Marketing, Case Management, and Job Coaching work. The Community Mentor work will be in partnership with school districts, nonprofit agencies, and Wise staff to provide customized employment support specific to the needs of everyone.
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Designated Program Manager
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Supports the Program Manager with the required administrative reporting of the program.
Preps and provides onsite employment support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
An ability to work independently and problem solve.
Collaborate with a support team consisting of community agency staff, employers, individuals with disabilities, and school staff.
Correspond with Program Manager through email, text, and social media.
Education and Experience:
No experience is necessary.
Position Requirements:
- Must complete CPR and First Aid training and State of Washington Developmental Disabilities Administration mandated training.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Candidates should be responsible and reliable and able to model professional behavior in the workplace.
