Position Details
·      Job Title: Social Media Assistant

·      Flexible Hours: Maximum of 10 hours a month
·      Commitment: At least one academic year (September 2021-June 2022)
·      Open to all majors and school years
·      Reports to Director of Public Information/Social Media Specialist
 
Responsibilities
Do you have a passion for photography, video, or digital art? Do you have an appreciation for design, aesthetics, and creativity? Do you like social media? We mean REALLY like social media?
 
The Office of University Communications is seeking an enthusiastic Social Media Assistant to help manage Seattle Pacific University’s Instagram and TikTok presence and content beginning Autumn Quarter 2022. You’ll be part of a small team of students working to create and publish content to engage and inform an audience of your fellow and future Falcons. You will help cover campus events by taking photos and videos, creating Instagram posts or stories, brainstorming ideas for content, staying on top of social media and visual trends, and representing the vibrant and diverse SPU community.

·      Active presence on social media
·      Creative thinker
·      Ability to meet deadlines and coordinate several jobs simultaneously
·      Ability to stay on brand while covering various styles of school events
·      Motivated self-starter who can be flexible with quick turnaround time is essential
·      Strong communication skills via email and text
·      Enthusiasm for our SPU mission, diversity, passion for our core audiences, and creativity to advance our engagement efforts is required
 
Preferred Attributes
·      Up to date on latest social media trends (content, topics, and platforms)
·      Experience with creating TikTok content and understanding social trends
·      Experience in Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere or Final Cut Pro is a plus but not required
·      Flexible schedule to accommodate occasional evening and weekend events
·      Active student life  a part of school club, residence hall, volunteer work, athletics, etc.
·      Authentic voice and personality reflected in social media content
·      Owns a professional camera (DSLR/Mirrorless/Compact) or has access to one
 
Photo/Video Assignment (Please complete both assignments)
·      After reviewing and observing the aesthetics of SPU's Instagram account, take a photo or create an Instagram story with captions that would make a prospective student excited and interested in attending SPU.
·      Create an Instagram Reel or TikTok video that represents and aligns with one (or all) of SPU’s three brand distinctives: Faith, Academics, and Seattle.
