University Communications, SPU's marketing and communications office, is looking for a senior in the Visual Communications program to join our team for the 2020-21 school year.
University Communications provides print, web design, and photo processing services for all departments across SPU's campus. Our student design interns are exposed to both print and web design, and will work under the supervision of our staff designers, taking projects from concept to completion. They will also have the opportunity to work with project managers, copy editors, campus clients, and outside vendors.
We are seeking a student designer who have keen eyes for detail, are efficient, and have a working familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite. We strive to create a teaching environment at University Communications, so above all, a desire to learn, ask questions, and a drive to grow as designers are essential.
— This is a paid position, and internship credits may be taken if needed.
— We ask for a year-long commitment, at 15 hours a week minimum. This provides the best exposure to the design process and allows for the most growth over the year.
— Hours are flexible.
— Completed designs are great additions to portfolios.
— In addition to the benefit of working on campus*, our student designers gain experience at an in-house design and communications agency, learn to design for real-world clients with different audiences and goals, and exercise creativity while staying in our brand guidelines.

*Potential for some remote work in the 2020-21 year.
