HR Assistant-Solid Ground - Federal Work Study

JOB SUMMARY: This is a federal community service work study position for SPU students. The Human Resource Assistant provides broad administrative support to the Human Resource Department in accordance with agency policy and three union contracts. 
Duties also include assisting with diverse recruitment efforts, and benefit administration. This position will provide the HR Director with specific administrative and special project support. This position also requires the employee to maintain the utmost confidentiality.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES AND TASKS:
20% Provide excellent customer service to staff on general HR related questions and processes, referring staff to appropriate HR staff. 
 
20% Support recruitment and on boarding efforts by processing employment applications, conduct employment/income verifications, reference checks as well as drug and alcohol testing reference checks. Process and analyze Washington State Patrol background check results to ensure legal compliance with placement of staff and volunteers and provide other assistance as needed. Provide support and assistance around diversifying staff recruitment; 

20% Update data in the Human Resource Information System. Generate and distribute monthly reports on insurance benefits, union lists, anniversaries, DSHS, mileage reimbursement, etc. and prepare ad hoc data reports as necessary. Track Seattle Sick Leave accrual, personal leave and holiday accrual, assist with 401 (k) enrollment/change processing;

15% Provide administrative support to the Human Resources Department and conduct special projects for Human Resources Director. Schedule and coordinate meetings/events,

5% Create and maintain employee personnel records and personnel files.

5% Maintain, update and revise New Hire On boarding materials, Benefit Orientation handbooks as well as forms and documents for Human Resources Department as needed. Create new hire and benefit packets;

5% Prepare monthly billings for ORCA transportation cards, classified ad billings, check requests, conduct verification and input insurance reimbursements into HRIS.
