Pay Range:                             $16+ DOE
 
Minimum Hours:                   12 – 15 hrs/wk
                                               
 
Employment Period:            Spring and Summer 2019, and 2019-20 academic year. Potential of returning for future academic years and/or summers.
                                                                                              
Days of the week:                 Monday – Friday, occasional Saturday
 
Description of Duties:
 
The student employee is responsible for learning and knowing a large amount of information on a variety of different procedures and departments on campus. The Welcome Team is a high-profile office and it is important that students make a good “first impression” of the University to everyone who calls or visits.
 
The Welcome Team works for Undergraduate Admissions in-person, over the phone, and via email with prospective students and their families. The Welcome Team also answers general campus questions.
 
Student employees provide a high level of professionalism, responsibility, and friendliness. The student employee is responsible for: answering office phone lines (multi-line phone); responding to email inquiries; taking visit requests; scheduling appointments for admissions counselors; performing various office duties such as copying, word processing, and filing. The student employee may also work at the front desk to check students in for appointments and speak in-person with prospective students and their families about the university.
 
Skills/Qualifications/Experience Required:
 
The ability to handle multiple tasks; excellent customer service skills; professional phone voice; superior writing ability; friendly and personable demeanor; a teachable attitude; flexibility in high-pressure situations; and the ability to work cooperatively in a team setting. Good academic standing is also required. A GPA of 3.0 or above is required.
 
Previous office experience is strongly preferred.
