Job Title:       Student Counseling Center (SCC) Graduate Assistant
 
Hours/Pay:    15-20 hours per week, $16.00 per hour; preference given to applicants able to work on Tuesdays and Thursdays
 
Duration:       Begins 9.23.2019 (or when position is filled) and continues ongoing through Fall, Winter and Spring quarters

Job Description
 
The SCC Graduate Assistant position involves a wide variety of duties within a dynamic and supportive work environment. In general, these duties include the following: serve as initial contact for students seeking assistance from the Student Counseling Center; assist clients with intake process and checking in for appointments; answer phone and email inquiries; schedule clients for appointments by phone and in person; respond to students, parents, and SPU faculty and staff in a mature, composed, sensitive, and confidential manner; assist with and manage crisis situations in a calm and professional manner; assist in SCC campus events and presentations; perform file maintenance of client and general office files; manage client data through MS Access Database; run campus errands; maintain, clean, and update forms/pamphlets in shared work areas and waiting room; and perform other related duties as assigned.
 
Job Requirements
 
·        Due to issues of confidentiality with an undergraduate population, this applicant MUST BE A GRADUATE STUDENT. It is not required that this applicant be a student in a counseling-oriented program.
·        Essential Requirements: promptness and reliability; professional poise and demeanor; integrity and strong commitment to maintenance and preservation of client and staff confidentiality; strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including problem-solving and competence in managing multiple tasks at the same time; strong computer skills; basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint); willingness and ability to learn necessary computer programs; self-starter attitude; and openness to asking questions/receiving feedback.
·        Desired experience: experience dealing with issues of confidentiality; working knowledge of Photoshop and Microsoft Access; experience with counseling and/or counseling related work settings.
