Computer Science Lab Assistants

The Engineering and Computer Science Department is seeking students to serve as Lab Assistants to staff the computer lab in Otto Miller Hall (OMH) for 2019-2020 academic year. Lab assistants answer general student questions in the lab -- how to use the computers, how to print, etc. -- and also answer programming questions for students in the introductory computer science courses (CSC 1230, CSC 2330, CSC 2430, CSC 2431, CSC 1130, CSC 2230). 

Applicants must be comfortable giving basic technical support for the Windows PCs and Mac in the computer lab in Otto Miller Hall. 
Applicants must have successfully completed CSC 1230, CSC 2430 and CSC 2431 at SPU or demonstrate proficiency with the C++ programming language and related programming concepts. 
Applicants should also be comfortable answering questions for CSC 1130 and CSC 2230, which use the Python programming language -- prior knowledge of Python is not required.

The lab will be open 3:00-9:30pm M-Th, and 3:00-6:00pm F on days when OMH is open, and Saturdays 9:00-5:00pm (in OMH or in the Ames Library, Saturday location to be confirmed). Shift assignments are flexible but typically span 3-3.5 hours 2-4 days per week from the second week of the quarter through finals week.
