Program Assistant – Annual Giving

The University Advancement team is looking for a hard-working, proactive, and creative student to join our team during the 2019-20 school year (and possibly beyond) to assist in our donor relations and fundraising work. Our team helps raise money for SPU, and this position will contribute to the work of fundraising for student scholarships, academic excellence, student life, Christian growth, and more at SPU.

The ideal candidate is someone interested in communications, marketing, and/or nonprofit operations, but the position is open to students of all majors. Much of the work involved will be administrative (office work), but for interested candidates there will be opportunity to gain communications and marketing experience.
 
Job requirements:
o  Must be a student at Seattle Pacific.
o  Strong communication skills (written and oral).
o  Capable of accurate, detail-oriented work.
o  Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
o  A GPA of 3.2 or higher is preferred.
 
Job duties assigned:
Must dos:
o  Prepare donor mailings and event materials.
o  Write donor thank you cards (and other cards).
o  Assist with donor thank you processes.
o  Using a script, call donors to thank them for giving to SPU (fall and spring only).
o  Perform tasks in Raiser’s Edge (database) as needed.
o  On occasion, assist with donor events.
 
Would like to find a student who could also help:
o  Write stories and reports to communicate about how giving to SPU makes a difference.
o  Capture (unpolished) videos of SPU students and faculty thanking donors / sharing how SPU giving makes a difference.
o  With guidance, promote stories and videos through various communication channels.
o  For students with a demonstrated aptitude and interest, we could provide opportunities to do some email and social media marketing.
o  Run reports and perform data analysis and summaries.
 
May occasionally:
o  Greet or assist visitors at our front desk.
o  Run errands.
o  Assist with day-to-day office tasks.
o  Perform other duties as assigned.
