International Admissions Intern

The International Admissions Intern works closely with other enrollment professionals to support all aspects of undergraduate international student recruitment and enrollment at SPU. The intern will work within the “Slate” CRM, responding to emails from prospective international students, identifying and contacting incomplete applicants, and contacting admitted students each quarter (by phone when possible) to encourage enrollment at SPU. The intern may assist with promoting SPU at local college fairs, high schools, and on-campus admissions events as their schedule allows. The intern may be asked to assist as a liaison with local and overseas partners (community college advisors, high school counselors, language school staff, education partner staff), providing information, coordinating visits, and scheduling English testing when needed. Candidates with an interest in and knowledge of social media may be able to assist with the development and implementation of the use of these platforms in international recruitment. 

Required Qualifications:
Understanding of and sensitivity to cross-cultural differences;
Personal experience with cross-cultural adjustment process;
Excellent written communication skills. Can present SPU information in a positive, relational manner;
Excellent interpersonal skills. Can talk and connect with all different kinds of people; professional but friendly and approachable demeanor
Strong supporter of SPU!
Able and willing to interact with individuals from a variety of religious backgrounds;
Self-directing; able to work with minimal supervision; able to see and respond to work flow and program needs;
Excellent computer skills. The majority of the work will be done on the computer, particularly using email and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
Careful about details and providing accurate information

Desired qualifications:
Personal experience as an international student at a US college or university;
Some knowledge of education systems other than the U.S. system;
Personal experience using overseas agency;
Bilingual skills;
Familiarity with the basic F-1 student visa regulations and requirements;
Able to work occasional full or half days

Summary:
10 hours per week, preferably in shifts of 2+ hours
Duration: begins December 1, 2018, or sooner, and continues through winter and spring quarters, including breaks as available. There is a possibility of continuing through summer 2019 as well.
