We are looking to hire two qualified candidates to participate in engineering research this summer related to wireless communications. The expectation will be for at least 200 hours of time, but only 10 hours are paid (at the Seattle minimum wage rate). The remaining hours are unpaid. However, this research will count toward the Engineering and Computer Science internship requirement. Participants will also gain practical experience, which will benefit them in their future careers.

Responsibilities:
·         assist in building sensor nodes
·         assist in deploying sensor nodes in mountainous areas
·         assist in taking measurements and reporting data
·         connect sensor nodes to web page
·         prepare a literature review on similar research and other minor assignments
 
 
Required qualifications:
·         an SPU student enrolled in Spring 2018 and Fall 2018 and at least meet one of the following:
o    knowledge of wireless communication or RF propagation
o    previous experience with low power transceivers (for example: NRF, LoRa, XBee)
o    previous experience implementing web page/server, GPS device, and transceiver with Arduino/Dragino or raspberry pi
o    physically fit and able to carry light-weight equipment while hiking to the sites
o    ability to learn fast with minimal supervision
o    previous experience in hiking, backpacking or being familiar with mountainous areas close to Seattle is an added advantage
