Kitchen Manager and Support Teacher - State Work Study

Seattle Learning Center Queen Anne provides an exciting early learning environment for toddlers to preschool age children. Our focus is to encourage creativity through play and physical activity. We aim to inspire children to be life-long learners and establish a cooperative relationship between parents and staff. We’ve built a center that is child-centered, play-based, and committed to high quality early childhood education.

As the kitchen manager your duties will be divided in the following way:
50% Meal Prep:
  • Follow food handling safety guidelines when preparing meals
  • Make breakfast, two snacks, and occasional lunch for the center
  • Divide food between four classrooms
30% Dishes and Cleaning:
  • Maintaining licensing standards for food handling and sanitation
  • Washing dishes in a timely manner
  • Keeping kitchen clean, organized and dishes properly dispersed to classrooms
10% Ordering and Menu:
  • Managing the food inventory, food orders and grocery lists
  • Planning the menu with the assistant director
  • Assisting with Farestart food orders
10% Supporting Classrooms:
  • Assisting when needed in any classroom for bathroom trips, class time, or walks
  • Covering teacher breaks
  • Providing children with a safe and healthy learning environment while the teacher is out
Hourly Pay and Benefits:This is a full time non-exempt position. Pay is $14/hour. All employees are entitled to accruing PTO at the rate of 1 day/month 10-20 days a year based on tenure. Benefits vary for staff based on whether they are part time or full time.
