The Center for Learning is hiring Math (MAT) Peer Tutors for spring quarter 2019.
A MAT Study Tables Peer Tutor will host a study space and assist students individually and in small groups who drop in to ask questions, do homework, and study for exams for select 1000 and 2000 level math courses. The tutor will work 4-6 hours per week during each quarter (specific times depending on tutor availability and program needs).
A MAT Study Tables Peer Tutor must have completed MAT 1234-1236 and MAT 2360 (or equivalents). At least two of these classes must be taken at SPU, and the applicant must have earned at least an A- in all four classes. In addition the tutor must be able to communicate effectively, have a math faculty recommendation affirming strong grasp of related academic subject matter, exhibit insight into effective strategies used by peer educators, and hold an overall GPA of 3.2 or higher.
Applications will be considered on a rolling basis. Applicants who are chosen to move forward will be contacted via email with faculty reference form and interview times.
