Pay: SPU’s minimum wage – currently $15.45/hour
Job Description
Position Overview:
The Residency Assistant assists the Program Coordinator prior to and during Seattle Pacific University’s Low-Residency MFA Program’s winter or summer residency.
Required Availability:
- Duration of the residency as well as the week before the residency begins.
- Participate in basic training and assist with preparations before the residency.
- Hours are restricted and will need prior approval
General Responsibilities before and during the Residency:
- Assist with residency preparations as needed
- Shuttle MFA faculty and visiting faculty to/from the airport as well as on short errands during the residency.
- Assist the MFA Program Coordinator with general residency preparations, such a packets, registration, room set-up, and small and large-group event organization.
- Provide additional programming support, including administrative support for the Program Director and faculty mentors and by running the snack/book tables.
- Report directly to the Program Coordinator by checking in frequently and possess a willingness to be available at a moment’s notice.
Additional Information:
- The program will provide lodging and meals throughout the residency.
- Hours vary from day-to-day, depending on the program’s needs on any given day.
- The Residency Assistant would be welcome to attend all large-group events, such as our faculty/student readings, Art & Faith seminars, and faculty panel, as long as the events do not conflict with the needs of the Program Coordinator.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Has a valid driver’s license.
- Access to a car for the duration of the residency that would be appropriate for shuttling faculty to/from the airport.
Desired Qualifications:
- Responsible with the ability to work independently with little direct supervision, take initiative to work collaboratively, and communicate proactively with the Program Coordinator.
- Socially adaptable and outgoing.
- Flexible about sudden changes in scheduling and meeting unexpected needs.
- Interest in the writing and faith community that comprises the SPU MFA Program.
- Familiarity with PowerPoint.
