Summer Conference Assistant: Client Lodging and Hospitality

Please note that this position requires extensive time spent outside the office environment and office hours.

 

Required Skills and Experience

·         Able to lift 50 pounds and move around campus easily

·         Willing to become certified to drive University vehicles

·         Must be a continuing student of sophomore, junior, or senior standing during the summer of 2017

·         Friendly, with good customer service skills

·         Flexible and able to problem solve

  • Proven ability to take initiative and handle multiple tasks at one time

·         Ability to work independently as well as on a team

·         Basic office and computer skills

 

Hours

·         June 8, 2018 to August 31, 2018 (move in June 10)

·         First training day is scheduled for Friday, June 8 (following Ivy Cutting)

·         30-40 hours per week with approved occasional overtime

·         Daytime, evenings, and weekends as scheduled

·         Share rotating evening and weekend on-call duties with Summer Conference staff

 

Responsibilities

·         Work directly with laundry subcontractor to schedule delivery and pickup of bed and bath linens

·         Track clients’ linen needs in client files and conference software

·         Assemble conference linen packets

·         Drive University van to distribute linens and mail around campus

·         Track bedroom furniture inventory in MS Excel

·         Walk through rooms  after client check-outs to assess damage or policy breaches and collect lost-and-found items

  • Report to the Assistant Director of Conference Services
  • Rotate on-call duties during evenings and weekends
  • Provide excellent customer service for conference guests
  • Prepare rooms for conference guests
  • Check guests in and out of campus housing, and distribute and collect room keys and meal/access cards
  • Collect and distribute mail
  • Clerical and custodial work
  • Other duties as assigned*

 

Compensation and Benefits

·         $15.45 per hour

·         Housing is provided June 10, 2018 through beginning of 18-19 academic year (end dates vary)

·         Meals are not provided
