Mathematics Department Grader and Learning Assistant

Math Grader: A Math Grader works directly with a Mathematics faculty member to grade homework papers. The grader works 2-10 hours per week (flexible hours) depending on the particular course involved. The grader is hired to grade for a particular class and quarter and must have successfully completed the class (or similar classes) to prove competency in the subject area. In addition to competency in the course content, graders should be able to follow and apply a key as well as make grading decisions fairly. Accuracy, consistency, timeliness and clarity of communication are required. A faculty reference is required.

Math Learning Assistant: A Math LA works directly with a Mathematics faculty member assisting in a classroom and is hired for one quarter at a time. Some homework grading may also be involved. The LA assists students individually and in small groups. The LA will work 4-10 hours per week during the quarter. The LA must have successfully completed the class (or similar classes) to prove competency in the subject area. In addition, the LA must be able to communicate effectively, have a math faculty recommendation, and exhibit insight into effective strategies used by peer educators.
