University Tutors for Seattle Schools (UTSS) seeks paid undergraduate and graduate tutors to assist students in regular-day and afterschool work in Seattle Public School classrooms, and/or in individual and small group tutoring situations outside of classrooms. Qualities desired are academic skills in Mathematics and/or Language Arts, experience working with children and youth, urban experience or at least exposure, relational initiative, dependability, and ability to communicate with teachers, students and other adults about any and all aspects of the educational tasks at hand. Hours vary from 10-25 hr.’s per week at $15 per hour. Tutors will be assigned to one school within 20-30 minutes from their university campuses, sometimes 2 schools.
