Industrial-Organizational Psychology Graduate Assistant

Applicant Requirements 

The GA must be a continuing graduate student in good standing in the Department of Industrial-Organizational Psychology at Seattle Pacific University, in their first year or beyond, with career or vocational interests that overlap with leadership development, mentoring, executive coaching, vocation, organizational development & change, and/or leadership differentiation. 

Specific Duties 

  • Research Responsibilities:  The GA assists in library research, summarizing the findings of scientific studies, data collection, compiling and maintaining databases, statistical analyses, organization of articles and books collections, investigating or obtaining tests and measures needed for research, assisting in grant writing, and preparing manuscripts, tables, posters or papers for scholarly presentation and/or publication. The GA also provides assistance with organizing and contributing to the smooth overall functioning of the research team (RVT) under the supervision of I-O faculty. 

  • Course Development and Teaching Support: The GA will also assist the faculty with other teaching and academic activities, obtaining or organizing material for course development or course lectures.  

  • Administration Support: The GA will also assist with administration and clerical tasks that support this professor in his academic leadership activities as well as scholarship. This might involve assistance in professional networking, database management, photocopying or other office tasks that may require knowledge of professional psychology as well as departmental and university functioning.   

GA Selection 

At the beginning of Autumn quarter, eligible students are encouraged to apply for GA positions. Applications are made available to all MA students when there are openings, and once completed, are reviewed by the department. Selection is determined by I-O faculty and the Program Coordinator.
